Stone Fruit Box

Every year, we count down the days until stone fruit season. The arrival of summer made tangible, and all the more sweet. While the season brings a bounty of exceptional produce, stone fruit remains a highlight for us. From apricots and cherries to peaches and nectarines, each variety carries its own character. However, they do generally share two defining traits: the hard stone at their centre and the rich, sun-fed juice synonymous with warmer days.

In nature, no two days look the same. That’s why your box might differ slightly from this image and list, reflecting nature’s highs.

Yellow Peaches – These make their way to us from Domenico in sun-soaked Campania, as well as Gianluca in Piedmont, who has more than 5,000 Yellow Peach trees, some as old as 30 years – originally planted by his father. When we caught up with him recently, he reflected on what’s been “the best season in years”: cooler temperatures in recent weeks have helped the fruit remain in excellent condition, even now in late summer. You’ll notice these sweet peaches have a blushed skin and a deep yellow interior, heavy with juice.

White Nectarines – We source our White Nectaries from a cooperative of growers in Lleida, Catalonia. Here, they thrive in one of Spain’s most prized stone fruit regions. The climate, with rainy springs and autumns, hot, dry summers, and cold winters, creates ideal conditions for nectarine trees to ‘hibernate’ in winter, set in spring, and develop rich sugars through the summer. Handpicked during their natural season, these White Nectarines reveal a crimson-streaked flesh beneath their speckled skin. A natural sign of concentrated sugars and full maturity.

Amarillo Peaches – Our Amarillo Peaches come from Oscar in Lleida, where he grows an indigenous late variety known as Percoca. These are defined by their thin skin and firm, crunchy flesh that holds its shape even when cooked. Their flavour has an almost nostalgic quality, reminiscent of tinned peaches, yet offered here in its purest, most vibrant form. Thanks to a naturally high concentration of sugars, Amarillo Peaches are exceptional for poaching and cooking, unlocking layers of sweetness while retaining their distinctive texture.

Reine Claude – Grown in chalky soils near Moissac, an area long considered the birthplace of France’s finest plums, these Reine Claudes come from three dedicated growers: Tristan, Guy, and Marc, all working in and around Montauban. The delicate nature of the Reine Claude keeps it close to home: thin-skinned, web-scarred, and prone to splitting in rain, most growers won’t take the risk. But Tristan, Guy, and Marc do more than take the risk, they let the fruit hang until sugars peak, harvesting only at full maturity. The fruit carries a syrupy sweetness that modern varieties rarely match. Rare, complex, and only with us for a few short months, these are stone fruits grown against the grain.

We exist to fix the food system.

People are more cut off from the origins of their food than ever. This makes flavour, nutrition and farming practices that protect the planet, almost impossible to find.

By working directly with growers, we create a more sustainable way forward for farming. By giving everyone the tools to understand the power of our food choices, we empower everybody to become drivers of change.

Now is the time for action. Join the food system revolution.
